Lithuania climbs to 33rd place in Global Innovation Index

Lithuania has reached a new milestone in the Global Innovation Index, climbing two places to 33rd among 139 countries.

This is Lithuania’s highest position ever and a strong signal of the country’s rapid progress in building a competitive and innovation-driven economy.

And that’s not all. Lithuania’s unicorn valuation was equal to 9.55 % GDP in 2025, up by 0.79 percentage points from the year prior – and equivalent to an indicator rank of 1.

Also, apps created by Lithuanian startups and tech companies were downloaded nearly 400 million times. That puts us 8th in the world for most frequently installed apps.

When it comes to creating knowledge-intensive jobs, Lithuania ranks 16th out of 134 countries. Even better news – their share keeps growing, now reaching 47.86%.

Compiled and published annually by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), the Global Innovation Index provides the most comprehensive global overview of innovation ecosystems. It evaluates around 80 indicators to highlight countries’ innovation strengths and weaknesses.
